Several historical black and white photos and a copy of an old newspaper are now on permanent display in the Village Hall.
This display is a result of the Village Hall Management Committee's archive program, says Nancy Walsh, a board member.
"The committee has been working on this idea for two years, developing ideas of what to do," she says.
The photos depict life in the early years of the hall including the original malthouse, owned by George Elliot and the first village hall, she says.
"There are 18 photos (in the permanent display) dating back as early as the 1900s" Peets says. A number of the photos came from a collection owned by Elizabeth Elliot, George Elliot's great grand daughter.
The photos are on display during village business hours.
Other photos in the display show the vast carrot fields that were here, early automobiles, a meeting scene with all men that included the local school board and mining representatives.
The committee is seeking additional photos of the local area.
"Anyone with historical photos of that would like to send them to us, we will copy and return," Walsh says.
"Our archive project aims to help people preserve historical photos. Preservation is so important."
"People often let them just lay around and do not know what to do with them," she says.
Please contact the committee if you have any relevant photos that would add to the archive as they would be of great interest to our local community.
